Who Maravier is for
Employers with 1 to 49 staff in England, Scotland and Wales. Most HR work is the same whatever your business does, and we do it for you. Your industry adds a few rules of its own, and we build those in too.

What’s the same in every industry
Most of a small employer’s HR paperwork doesn’t change with the industry: contracts, the staff handbook, policies and letters, holiday and notice sums, records and reminders. We do all of it from the same approved templates, and your industry’s extra rules go into extra sections of those templates.
Your HR expert handles anything that needs judgement, such as disciplinaries, grievances and dismissals. You make the final call; we do everything else.
How your industry’s rules get in
- Your answers when you join pick the sections: your industry, roles and shifts, how you pay, the cards or checks your staff need, who drives for work, and whether you use self-employed subcontractors.
- Checks block anything below the legal minimum: pay under the minimum wage for the worker’s age, less than 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday a year, or notice shorter than the law allows.
- Legal checks block anything below the legal minimum, and anything they flag goes to your HR expert before it’s sent.
- When the law changes, we change the template once, and every business it affects gets the updated documents.
Any other business
If your business isn’t one of the six, and isn’t in an industry we’re still building in, you can still reserve your founding price. Here’s what happens next.

Still being built in
These industries have extra rules we haven’t built into our documents yet, so we can’t take a pre-order from them. If yours is one of them, book a call first: the checkout sends you to a call instead of a pre-order, and we’ll tell you what we can cover.
Care homes, home care and childcare
Staff in regulated roles with children or vulnerable adults must be checked against the barred lists of people banned from that work. Each nation’s inspectors also set rules on staffing and training.
Security
Security guards, door supervisors and CCTV operators need a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
Farming
Scotland and Wales set their own minimum pay for farm workers: Scotland with overtime after 8 hours in a day, and Wales with higher minimum rates for skilled grades and allowances such as night work.
Haulage
Drivers of goods vehicles must follow the drivers’ hours rules on how long they can drive and the breaks they take.
Financial services
The Senior Managers and Certification Regime applies to every firm regulated only by the Financial Conduct Authority, with its own rules on certifying staff and their conduct.

England, Scotland and Wales
Employment law is the same in all three on almost every point. Where it differs, each person’s documents follow the nation they work in, so one business can have staff in more than one.
- Contracts: Scots law for staff who work in Scotland, and the law of England and Wales for everyone else.
- Bank holidays: 8 days in England and Wales, including Easter Monday. 9 in Scotland, including 2 January and St Andrew’s Day, but not Easter Monday.
- Sunday work in shops: shop workers can opt out, and must be told so in writing within 2 months of starting. In Scotland, the same rights come from the Sunday Working (Scotland) Act 2003.
- Checks for work with children or vulnerable adults: an enhanced check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), including the barred lists, in England and Wales. In Scotland, membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
Northern Ireland isn’t covered yet. Its employment law is different: the 1 January 2027 unfair dismissal changes, for example, don’t apply there.
Questions
Is the price different for my industry?
No. Every industry gets the same plan at the same price, set by how many staff you have. See prices for every team size
What if I have more than 49 staff?
Maravier is built for 1 to 49 staff. Book a call and we’ll tell you whether it fits.
Some of my staff drive for work. Is that covered?
Yes, in any of the six industries. With each driver’s consent, we record their licence check, which uses the last 8 characters of their licence number and a check code they get from GOV.UK. The code lasts 21 days and works once. You choose how often to check, and your handbook gets a driving-for-work policy.
I use self-employed people. Can you help with them?
Yes. Who counts as an employee is a question for your HR expert, who checks each person’s status before any contractor agreement goes out. Since 1 October 2026, you also need to check the right to work of individuals you take on as subcontractors, and we record those checks too.
